HI! I’M ELAINA

Welcome to Food as Medicine (FAM)

I’m an integrative health coach, former private chef, and an advocate for the powers of a healthy balanced lifestyle.

Many years ago whilst working as a hospital anesthesia technician, I decided to follow my dreams of working with food and enrolled in culinary school. At that point, I was partially interested in healthy cooking and eating, but a few years later I landed a job at Nobu in Las Vegas and really started getting into nutrition.

So, in 2011, I earned the Certificate of Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN). While studying, I learned about over one hundred different dietary theories, and it soon dawned on me that what is healthy for one person might not be for another. The idea that we all need tailor made diets to be at our best stuck with me, and was something I kept in mind both at work and at home.

Later in my career I had the opportunity to work as a private chef for UFC President, Dana White and his family. During this time I had the chance to share my love of cooking and nutrition, feeding his entire family with tailor made menus and healthier versions of their favorite foods. And with that, the idea for Food as Medicine was born!

“Elaina was an amazing Chef, she was able to not only cook excellent food, but would adapt to our dietary needs. If I was on a diet, she would make me food that was good to eat and would make dieting easy for me. What is really important when dealing with a Chef is that all three of my kids loved her food too. She always had an amazing attitude, everyday she came to work she was upbeat happy and positive. We were all very sad when she decided to move on.”
